Saskatchewan Avenue over Omand's Creek bridge replacement begins January 4

Posted: December 30, 2015

Winnipeg, MB – Construction of the Saskatchewan Avenue over Omand’s Creek bridge replacement will begin on January 4, 2016 and is expected to be complete by the end of June 2016.

The purpose of this $3 million project is to replace the bridge to improve its strength, safety and functionality. The deteriorated, load-restricted timber bridge will be replaced with a modern, concrete bridge and a right turn lane from Empress Street to eastbound Saskatchewan Avenue will also be added.

The new structure is expected to last at least 75 years.

Saskatchewan Avenue will be closed to traffic at Omand’s Creek for the duration of the project. Empress Street and its westbound connection to Saskatchewan Avenue will remain open during construction. Midland Street and Saskatchewan Avenue east of Omand’s Creek will be local access only from Notre Dame. Transit routes will not be affected.
